Intellectual Property for Startups: Identifying and Protecting Your Intangible Assets

This presentation will focus on basic intellectual property concerns for startup entrepreneurs. The speakers will provide a brief overview of copyrights, trademarks and patents, offer tips on when and how to protect intellectual property, as well as discuss common intellectual property mistakes and how to avoid them.

Students with the University of Ottawa Business Law Clinic (BLC) will give the presentation. The BLC is a program dedicated to providing pro bono business-oriented legal services. The BLC also produces public education seminars on relevant business law topics in order to improve access to basic legal information.
