Understanding Legalized Corruption
9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Some people seem to get away with behaviour that many consider corrupt. For example, the behaviour of the new US president, Donald Trump, has generated opposing viewpoints on whether corruption can flourish and whether it is legal or illegal.
Is it possible for a person, government or firm to act legally but still be corrupt? On the other hand, can a person, government or firm perform an illegal act without being corrupt? There are laws in place to fight corruption but are there laws that enable corruption?
We will explore the fascinating topic of legalized corruption with three experts who will share their experience and knowledge on this increasingly important subject.
