MHA Bear Pit Session # 3: Accelerating Change Toward Mental Health and Well-Being

Thursday, January 28, 2016, 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

As emerging leaders in healthcare management, your perspectives and drive will help transform Canada’s current system.  Louise Bradley, President and CEO of the Mental Health Commission of Canada, has dedicated her professional life to championing mental illness awareness, promoting mental wellness, and combatting the stigma that remains a persistent barrier to care.

In this frank and compelling discussion, you will hear how Louise challenges healthcare providers and managers to face the self-stigma that threatens quality of patient care and the wellbeing of healthcare providers themselves.

In a talk supported by empirical data and cutting-edge research, and joined by the MHCC’s Director of the Opening Minds Anti-Stigma Program, Michael Pietrus, Louise will share the story of a system confronted by challenges yet fueled by the hope and passion of advocates and people with lived experience of mental illness.  Enriched by her time as a nurse, hospital administrator and driver of workplace wellness, Louise will inspire you to think differently about mental wellness – both your own, and that of the clients you will ultimately serve.
