MBA Conference: The Cost of Corruption

MBA Conference: The Cost of Corruption

Corruption often results from dishonest or fraudulent conduct. It usually happens for two main reasons. There may be a financial reward (bribe, personal gain) by those in power. Alternatively, it may be power based (personal prestige or public recognition). Corruption is usually done behind closed doors, so the viewing public or recipients see only what appears to be beneficial results. A perfect example would be the soup kitchens that Al Capone used to sponsor during the depression. The public appeared to benefit but did not know or understand where the funding came from.

We must all be diligent to expose corruption and bring it into the light of day to ensure that Canadian values are protected.
