The era of big data is unfolding at an unprecedented pace. New technologies and algorithms are enabling organizations to collect massive amounts data from multiple sources with unprecedented speed and to analyze the data to produce granular insights. These insights can lead to innovations that can create fundamental shifts in productivity, growth, commerce, service delivery, cost control, operating efficiency, customer value, and competitiveness. Big data analytics can also change the way we think, live, and work. However, harnessing the huge potential of big data requires a clear understanding of the path from big data to ‘big impact’. One of the most difficult challenges for companies is how to build difficult-to-imitate big data analytics capability that enables sustained competitive advantage and deliver business value. This presentation explores management challenges and research opportunities in the big data analytics and its intersection with other management disciplines.

À propos du conférencier (en anglais seulement)
Dr. Ajax Persaud's research focuses on innovation, entrepreneurship, and marketing. Dr. Persaud received several nominations and awards for teaching and research excellence. His research has been published in leading refereed journals and peer-reviewed conference proceedings including IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Journal of Product Innovation Management, Journal of Technology Transfer, Canadian Journal of Administrative Sciences, Engineering Management Journal, and Technovation. He has authored/co-authored five books including Marketing, 1st & 2nd Canadian Ed.
Dr. Sandra Schillo focuses her research on improved methodologies relating to the measurement of innovation, entrepreneurship and their impact. Dr. Schillo has research and professional experience in the areas of science and technology, research and innovation management and entrepreneurship. Her professional work experience includes work completed for Industry Canada and many science based departments and agencies of the Canadian federal government. Dr. Schillo completed her doctoral studies at the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management, University of Kiel, Germany. She obtained her Masters' degree in Engineering Management from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany, majoring in corporate strategy and specializing in innovation management and technology transfer.
